Sharon Oaks Hunter Schooling Show, 8/20/17

Permalink 08/20/17 20:41, by Heather, Categories: Background

Castle Farm had a very relaxed day today at the Sharon Oaks show!  Due to so many folks being on vacation, it was just me competing on Butch and Gracie competing on Cisco.  The good news was that we didn't have to get up very early today :).  Gracie started things out for us in the Beginner Hunter division (which jumps 18" crossrails).  She started off with a bang, earning first place in the first class!  She went on to pick up several more ribbons in this division as well.  Then she moved on to try the Hopeful Hunter division, for the first time.  This division jumps 18" verticals.  She again starting things out with a bang, earning first place in her first class.  She went on to pick up another first place in one of her over fences classes, then added two seconds and a third to the mix.  She finished this division as the Reserve Champion as well!  Butch and I were up next, jumping 3' in the Open Hunter division.  Butch needed some practice schooling at this height, so we took some liberties to circle during our courses, which resulted in no ribbons.  However, sometimes the schooling moments are more important than the ribbons, and hopefully this work will pay off down the road :).  Our next outing will be at the Portofino Horse Trials next weekend.  Keep your eye out for us there!

This is where we post about the events happening at Castle Farm!
